WEEKEND IN THE PARK OF THE CASENTINESI FORESTS – BADIA PRATAGLIA
The offer is valid for all weekends between 08/01/2012 to 30/06/2012
SPECIAL PRICE 58.00 euro!

PROGRAMME
Saturday
10.00: arrival at the car park of Verna. The guides present the agenda and distribute necessary equipment (snowshoes and trekking poles) as well as an instruction manual which is not difficult to use. Snowshoes can by used by everyone. Participants must bring their own packed lunch.
The walkers set off for a ring excursion around Monte Penna della Verna, in the forest of the Ghiacciaia and theBosco delle Fate. The wood is like something out of a fairytale, with its huge beech trees which come out of enormous rocks completely covered in moss. Having walked around the mountain the trekkers then enter the Monastery. There follows a tour of this holy sanctuary which is a place of rare beauty and architectural worth. The main church contains the largest existing collection of Della Robbia works of art. Also worth noting is the Cappella delle Stimmate, the
Sasso Spicco, the walk along the cliff, the interior cloisers and so on.
After the tour the trekkers head back to Badia Prataglia, where they lodge at the comfortable and recently renovated Refuge of“Casanova” and have dinner.
Sunday
Breakfast at the Refuge. The trekkers then set off to “Fosso del Macchione”; and walk up along the torrent of the same name, alongside slabs of sandstone crossed by the clear waters of the torrent, small waterfalls, beeches and imposing spruce trees.
Trekkers reach the “Passo dei Lupatti” and if conditions are favourable they can walk along part of the ridge and then go down to Badia da “Campo dell’Agio”, which is initially surrounded by huge fir trees and subsequently chestnut trees of unusual dimensions.
The trekkers then have a second breakfast at the Refuge.
Departure in the afternoon.
PS.
The programme may be subject to major changes depending on the weather or other motives. In such a case the guide will consult the excursionists about alternatives but the guide’s final decision will be irrevocable.
Trekkers must wear thick clothing and must bring gloves, gloves and caps. Gaiters might be necessary. However the amount of snow varies from year to year (from 0 to 30 cm in that period). On the other hand, it might be necessary to use suncream especially for high-altitude walks.
